Course Overview


The Post Graduate Diploma in Yoga Education [P.G.D.YEd] is aimed at producing qualified, trained and holistic yoga teaching professionals. Yoga deals with the physical, mental, emotional, intellectual and spiritual wellbeing of an individual. Yoga is an invaluable gift from our ancient tradition. Yoga embodies unity of mind and body, thought and action. A holistic approach that is valuable to our health and our well-being. Yoga is not just about exercise, it is a way to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and nature. Wide range of ailments/diseases such as diabetes, blood pressure, anxiety, depression, back pain, sinusitis, heart related issues and y more can be successfully treated and managed with yoga practice. There are five sheaths which encase the body such as annamaya kosha, pranamaya kosha, manomaya kosha, vijnanamaya Kosha and anandamaya Kosha. Yoga works positively at all the five dimensions or koshas.



Course Learning Outcomes:


At the end of the course student will be able to:

  • Teach and train the individual to prevent the disorder and maintain fitness.
  • Understand philosophy, history and development of Raja Yoga and Hatha Yoga.
  • Cognize theoretical and practical aspects of asana, pranayama, meditation, mudra, bandha and kriya
  • Understanding anatomy and physiology of the human body.
  • Understand different ailments and teach yogic activities accordingly.
  • Advise the necessary dietary changes one must incorporate to make the healing process faster.
  • Revive and promote the ancient Gurukula System of yoga education .
  • Understand the importance of alternate healing science such as Ayurveda, Naturopathy, Meditation and Pranic Healing.
  • Suggest the necessary lifestyle changes one must follow for better healing and healthy living


  • Eligibility Prerequisites:


    Bachelor’s degree or any equivalent from any recognized university in any discipline such as BA, BBA, BSc, Bcom, BCA, LLB, BE, BEd, BAMS, MBBS etc.

    The main objective of PGDAV is to enable the student to teach the Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga to the general public. The course involves both theoretical, practical and practice of teaching aspects of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. The PGDAV course covers theoretical subjects such as philosophy, history, development of Raja Yoga and Hatha Yoga. Course incorporates the study and practice of asana, pranayama, meditation, mudra, bandha and kriya. PGDAV includes study of anatomy and physiology of the human body. Course also covers study of lifestyle changes and dietary practices to enhance the healing process.

    Course Duration:

    The Post-Graduation Diploma in Yoga Therapy course is for ONE YEAR

    Note:

  • There shall be two contact programs for the students in an academic year.
  • There shall be a university examination at the end of the course. Examination fee will be notified by VYE&RI and WYA separately.
  • Minimum marks for passing is 40 in each paper (with minimum 30 marks in external and 10 marks in internal assessment)
  • Declaration of the result shall be as per the VYE&RI and WYA rules and regulations.
  • The Institute will award certificates and medals to the students who have successfully completed a degree course at convocation ceremony every year.
