Course Overview


The Post-Graduation Diploma in Yoga Therapy [P.G.D.Y.T] is aimed at producing eminent holistic Yoga Therapists. Yoga Therapy uses the ancient science of yoga to enhance the health and wellness at all levels of the individual physical, mental, emotional, intellectual and spiritual. Wide range of ailments/diseases such as diabetes, blood pressure, anxiety, depression, back pain, sinusitis, heart related issues and many more can be successfully treated. Yoga therapy respects individual differences in age, culture, religion, philosophy, occupation, mental and physical health. Yoga Therapy increases the ability of an individual to utilize the medicine. There are five sheaths which encase the body such as annamaya kosha, pranamaya kosha, manomaya kosha, vijnanamaya Kosha and anandamaya Kosha. Yoga Therapy works positively at all the five dimensions or koshas.



Course Learning Outcomes:


At the end of the course student will be able to,


  • Understand the philosophy, history and development of yogic science
  • Cognize theoretical and practical aspects of asanas, pranayama, meditation, Mudra, Banda and kriyas
  • Understanding Anatomy and Physiology of human body
  • Counsel and understand the medical issue faced by the individual
  • Advise the necessary dietary changes one must incorporate to make the healing process faster
  • Suggest the necessary lifestyle changes one must follow for better healing and healthy living
  • Design and develop a Yoga Therapy Individual Specific Module keeping in mind the medical history of the and ailment the individual suffering from
  • Teach and train the individual to prevent the disorder and maintain the fitness
  • Understand importance of alternate healing science such as Ayurveda, Naturopathy, Meditation and Pranic Healing
  • Revive and promote the ancient Gurukula System of yoga education.


  • Eligibility Prerequisites:


    Bachelor’s degree or any equivalent from any recognized university in any discipline such as BA, BBA, BSc, Bcom, BCA, LLB, BE, BEd, BAMS, MBBS etc.


    The main objective of Post-Graduation Diploma in Yoga Therapy is to equip students to understand the ailments and design and develop a customized Yoga Therapy Module and apply the same to enhance the healing process. The P.G.D.Y.T course covers the subjects of philosophy, history and development of yogic science. Course incorporates the study and practice of asanas, pranayama, meditation, mudras, bandhas and kriyas. P.G.D.Y.T includes study of anatomy and physiology of the human body. Course also covers study of lifestyle changes and dietary practices to enhance the healing process.

    Note:

  • There shall be two contact programs for the students in an academic year.
  • There shall be a university examination at the end of the course. Examination fee will be notified by VYE&RI and WYA separately.
  • Minimum marks for passing is 40 in each paper (with minimum 30 marks in external and 10 marks in internal assessment)
  • Declaration of the result shall be as per the VYE&RI and WYA rules and regulations.
  • The Institute will award certificates and medals to the students who have successfully completed a degree course at convocation ceremony every year.
